Educational Provider Requirements
Educational requirements for Integrative Therapists require 1,200 hours of total education, broken up into 800 hours of primary education (general education) and 400 hours of secondary education (mental health-focused).
Primary Education:
Primary educational providers do not need to apply through the ITA to be approved, and we accept most health and wellness educational providers, assuming basic educational standards.
Secondary Education:
To be approved as a Secondary Education Provider, instiutitions must meet our educational standards, and apply for credentialing as an approved education provider. Secondary Education providers may be either Master’s programs or professional training programs.
Master’s Degree Programs:
Master’s degree programs from any state our country to be a full provider of primary and secondary education so students can meet all ITA requirements during their Master’s degree.

The ITA sets standards for secondary education providers, to ensure Integrative Therapists receive targeted education in client-focused mental health practice.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Provide at least 100 hours of structured curriculum
- Demonstrate clear, measurable learning objectives specifically in the field of mental health.
- Be taught by lead instructors holding a minimum of a master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field.
- Include formal assessment processes that evaluate practical skill, ethical awareness, and client interaction.
